What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a fast-growing discipline that has been practiced in Canada for years.
Most people think that acupuncture is all about inserting acupuncture needles in certain points of your body and leaving them for a few minutes, but this is not the full picture of the treatment.
Acupuncture treatment includes a whole body and systems assessment that addresses your lifestyle, eating habits, and other aspects of your daily life to determine which factors are affecting your overall health.
Treatment
Treatment options will include not only acupuncture but also utilizing other modalities and techniques such as cupping therapy, Tui Na massage, Gua Sha and moxibustion and physiotherapy
Your acupuncturist will assess your condition based on your current symptoms, including taking a detailed history, then performing a tongue diagnosis as well as the pulse diagnosis that would give us an insight about the status of your overall function and the interrelation between your organs. Based on those findings; the acupuncturist will design a treatment plan for you that is unique for each condition.
Cupping
Cupping therapy is an excellent treatment for muscular pain, tension and tightness in the neck or back. It involves suction cupping parts of the back to draw congested blood into the body’s surface, making it easier for the circulatory system to get rid of them. At Physio Village Clinic, we offer the following three types of cupping:
- Static cupping- therapist applies cupping for five to ten minutes
- Moving Cupping- therapist uses oil to move the cups over meridian pathways to boost energy levels and promote relaxation
